Where is the cruise control located on a Mercedes 124?
124 Location Description: You’ll first have to remove the driver’s side lower dash piece. The 124’s cruise control is located just to the left of the steering column. It is mounted on a bracket which is held in by two bolts (indicated by the blue lines in the photo. Once you remove these bolts you’ll be able to access the amplifier easily.
Why does my Mercedes SL500 disengage on hills?
If there is a Mercedes mechanic out there who knows if my cruise control unit is vacuum or not would be appreciated. I had a similar problem when I first purchased my used 1994 SL500. At speed (above 65 mph), the thing would disengage; it would also do it on hills.
Is the 1990 Mercedes 500SL still working now?
It will take them at least two model years to work out the kinks in the production run, and the quality levels will still be well below par for the price class. The 1990 Mercedes 500SL that I mentioned at the beginning of this forum is working fine now. I didn’t change anything but the cruise is working as if nothing ever happened.

Around 1993 Mercedes switched to a different engine management system and some cars cruise control were routed to it (typically 300/400/500E). If you are in doubt, drop me an email with your VIN and I can check for you. The 190E/D’s cruise unit is, by far, one of the easier units to access.
