My Sportster (18,000 miles on the clock) started spewing oil out of a breather or some place, oil all over the back on the right hand side mainly. Oil tank level shows half way up the dip stick with bike level.
Why do you put oil in the crankcase?
Oil in the crankcase adds resistance to the air pressure generated (raising the pressure). 2004 and up models have feed oil piston squirters which adds more oil into the crankcase. 04 head drains were diverted to the gearcase instead of the crankcase as in previuos models to help offset the difference from the squirters.

Take your dumbass hatred to the Harley thread in JM where it belongs. To the OP – because the oil tank is well above the crankcase, over three years gravity has done it’s work. This occurred very slowly over time through the passages of the oil pump.
