Where does the breather tube go?

Where does the breather tube go?

The crankcase breather tube is an s-shaped tube that sticks up from the crankcase below the carbs. It is normally routed to the airbox, so case gasses can be taken back in through the engine intake and blowby oil reabsorbed to the sump when the mist accumulates and drips back down into the case.

What does an oil breather pipe do?

On older cars this simply meant having a breather pipe venting to atmosphere, but on all modern cars the breather pipe actually vents back to the engine’s inlet. This helps reduce emissions and prevents the car from dropping an oily residue directly onto the road.

What is the purpose of a crankcase breather system?

A crankcase ventilation system removes unwanted gases from the crankcase of an internal combustion engine. The system usually consists of a tube, a one-way valve and a vacuum source (such as the intake manifold).

Where does the timed breather go in an oil tank?

The timed breather vents into the top of the oil tank, and a tube runs internally from the tower on top of the tank to the hole in front of the tank. In its stock form, the rear half of the air filter housing bolted to the front of the tank.

Where is the breather tube on a Norton oil tank?

The timed breather vents into the top of the oil tank, and a tube runs internally from the tower on top of the tank to the hole in front of the tank. In its stock form, the rear half of the air filter housing bolted to the front of the tank. I would suggest taking the breather hose off the tank and see if you are getting oil out of it.

Where is the oil tank vent tube routing?

The vent at the middle rear of the engine says “pipe air breather” on the OEM fiche. i looked at the fische u explained that is what that lil nub is called this hose is not suppose too really do anyrhing if u overfill the the oil it will spit it out this tube or if you have pressure in ur system itll push oil out of this hose

How is the oil tank vented to the air cleaner?

The oil tank is vented to the air cleaner by a hose that comes from a froth tower on top of the tank, or in the case of the centre mount tank, by a tube that runs internally from the tower to a hole in the front of the tank which matches up to a hole in the air box.

Is it possible to run a breather filter on a V-twin?

You do want to run a breather filter on it though to prevent any dirt or water in it and it would be impossible for it to go up the hose The water in the collection can is not water from the oil in the engine, it is water that has condensed into the oil while it was in the can.

Can a bike vent back into the atmosphere?

Cause the filter to eventually get clogged and just mist up the filter. Also the bike was made to have the combustion once not twice. Said it will cause carbon build up on top of pistons and few other things I don’t recall. Told me the best option with the compression we now have and all the upgrades would be to just vent back into the atmosphere.

Is it necessary to vent to air cleaner or not?

Most I have ever seen is a drop or two. Really starting to rethink about the ‘necessity’ to always vent a v-twin to the atmosphere. The benefit of having a vacuum applied to the engine case may out way the the effects of a minute amount of of oil mist going into the intake.
