I (finally) replaced the clutch in my 2005 Legacy GT this weekend, and took some pictures to help those who attempt this job. I used the “move the engine forward” method to replace the clutch for several reasons.

If the fork goes to far it could be the tob is pulled out of the pressure plate or the clip near the pressure plate is broken. If it stays on the floor and wont come back. Check under the tmic to make sure it’s not jammed fully forward.

Where is the engine connector on a legacy?

The main engine connector on my Legacy is on the passenger side, near the firewall and above the turbo. After you have disconnected this and the other nearby connectors, you’ll have to unbolt the bracket and unsnap some of the connectors from the bracket to free the parts attached to the engine from the chassis.
