Can you run two Humminbird units on transducer?
One unit will have to be the primary unit (the one that the HDSi transducer is connected to) and will have to be on for the second unit to share the transducer data. With two 998 units you will be able to share all of the sonar: 2D/Si/Di. Connection between the units is simple: just one cable and you are done.
What is a fishfinder transducer?
The transducer is the heart of a sonar / fishfinder system. The device converts electrical pulses into acoustic energy or sound waves and transmits these waves into the water.
Can you run Humminbird transducer out of water?
It is not recommended to run a FishFinder and transducer on a boat that is not in the water as you will not get any readings from the transducer. Without the water, the transducer could burn out and have issues if left running for an extended period of time out of the water.
Can you test a transducer out of the water?
You will not be able to test out the transducer’s ability to read depth when the boat is not in water. The temperature feature of the transducer will work, but it will only be reading the air temperature since it is not in the water.

How does fish finder transducer work?
The transducer is the piece that does all the work. The transducer sends sonar waves (sound waves) down into the water. They send a flash sonar pulse down to the bottom of the waters and bounce back when they hit an object. The use the time it took for the signal to come back to determine depth and object intensity.
