What kind of starter does a Jeep Patriot have?
Im a 2hr drive away from my vehicle and wont get a chance to be back to look at it until tomoro or the next day. Cycle your key 3 times see if it throws a code though. Mine showed p1279 starter circuit 2 open. I spliced into a wire directly at the tipm. Cant remember the colour right now exactly. But it was in the small brown connector.
Why does my 2014 Jeep Patriot not start?
I have a 2014 Jeep Patriot with 21 miles and 4 days after we took possession of it wouldn’t start for when the tow truck driver arrived it started for him, but I took it to the dealer anyway. They had it for several days and said it wouldn’t repeat the problem and no codes were found when they checked it.

We bought the car brand new from the dealership 4/15/14, first incident was in the afternoon after the car had been driven 15 miles to the mall on 4/19/14. When the tow truck driver arrived it started right up for him. The second time was 6/20/14, car had been driven 10 miles.

Based on the TSB, they quoted me over the phone $130 for the part and another $150 for labor, but who knows what other “problems” they’re going to find along the way. Keep me posted about this.

What to do if your Jeep Patriot won’t start?
Two weeks ago, I went out to start it and it wouldn’t start. No crank or anything. Battery is nearly new, all lights lit up brightly, radio worked fine. I looked into it and there is a TSB for the wireless control module, and a simple quick fix is to disconnect the battery for 30 seconds and reconnect and that will reset the WCM.
