One year ago my 2.7D S-Type had a completely transmission rebuild (by a ZF specialist), almost all the parts were replaced with original ZF parts (new clutch disks, new mechatronic/valve body, new seals kit, new oil pan and oil).

Is there a way to reset a Jaguar transmission?
So the only way of resetting them is via IDS/SDD. Fluid level and the gearbox itself (hardware) is fine, it only has around 10k miles after rebuild. I’ll book it then to a Jaguar dealer, they must have all the software to do this, hopefully!

The problem that I now encounter is the well-known “ZF Lurch”, and also slow 1 to 2 gear shifts (there’s also a weird sound when it shifts from 1 to 2).

Gear changes are handled by the TCM but it exchanges messages (across CAN) with the PCM (and in some cases PCM with ABS but not in the situation of this thread I expect). Battery off resets only the PCM’s learned values (there are many).
