I replaced my top motor in my 88 last spring and they said to use a high quality ATF fluid. They reccomended ATF Mercon V so that is what I used. It’s not in the manual it doesn’t say thanks though. If you take the back seat out and you are looking at the top motor, there will be a rubber plug on the left side of the motor. Pull it see if there is fluid in there.
