What kind of battery does a ZRX need?
Since it’s the interwebs, this of course led to a pissing match, with several members insisting it was the battery – ZRXs need a healthy battery otherwise they will just turn over and not start. I had measured the battery six ways from Sunday and it checked out good.
What kind of throttle Assembly does The ZRX use?
The ZRX also uses a push-pull, two-cable throttle assembly that has to be undone. Someone had already had them off, as they were marked with tape at the carbs to keep track of opening and closing cables.
Are there any similar forks to Kawasaki ZRX?
The ZRX forks are similar and the process is nearly the same, although I highly recommend getting the “Kawasaki special tool” to hold the damping assembly while tightening the bolt in the bottom. It’s the black cylindrical thing between the forks in the pic above.

Can you use a ZRX motor in a ZZR head?
Fitment issue, yes – you can use the whole motor in a ZRX but for the cyl head (the ZZR has downdraft carbs, these cannot fit within the ZRX frame/tank arrangement) so you have to use a ZRX head, this has slightly smaller valves than the ZZR (as I recall) though a bit of porting and ZZR cams makes the difference.
Are there any issues with the Kawasaki ZRX1200?
A few owners have experienced gearbox issues, which isn’t uncommon on large capacity bikes with lots of torque, so check all is well and that five (yes five, not six), gears engage smoothly and don’t hop out.

Can you put an oil cooler on a ZZR?
Sump and oil cooler don’t fit either unless you cange the Rex exhaust. Easiest to just bolt the Rex sump onto the ZZR motor. Output shaft spacer needs swapping over too ideally, unless you have non-standard wheels and make the chain run right with spacers.
