What kind of alternator does Mercedes Benz have?

Car is a B200 turbo diesel (B245) 2005, I think the photo below is a blown out diagram of the alternator assembly but I’m not sure which part the clutch pulley is or if its advisable to just replace this part ? Any advice greatly received as at the minute I’m staring at a big bill just before Christmas.

When did I have to replace my alternator and battery?

Within 3 months of purchasing it I had to replace battery and alternator. 3-4 months later had to repair/repl turbo actuator, a few more months and I’ve had to replace oil cooler: massive, immediate loss of oil (luckily, happened in my drive instead of on the road.) I am first time mercedes owner, but have been a diesel driver for over 10 years.

Do you have to take alternator pulley out?

If you want to replace the alternator, youre gonna have to remove the (optional) AC compressor aswell, inorder to be able to take out alternator :wink My alternator pulley was replaced at the same time when a merc-dealer was changing broken water pump.

Is it possible to repair a 2008 ML320 CDI?

It is very rare for 2008 ML320 CDI – it is very often for 2006 and some 2007 models. I’d keep it due to you have fixed some unusual issues. The car repair for well known car is cheaper than buying new car. If you want stay in ML world until year 2011 model, I’d say keep it …
