What is the shift shaft seal?
The shift shaft seal is the seal on the gear shift linkage that enters into the gearbox. It may be leaking hence the need to replace it. It is located high up above the transmission, follow the gear linkage into the gearbox.
How long does it take to replace shift shaft seal on TH400?
The actual TH400 or TH350 seal replacement only takes about 10 minutes once you get access to the side of the transmission (might have to remove exhaust or crossmembers depending on your setup).
