What is RailSync?
RailSync is a low power differential signal that mirrors the Digital Command Control packets on the rails. It is generated by the Command Station and sent out via LocoNet (pins 1 & 6) to devices such as Boosters, Occupancy Detectors and any other device which requires RailSync to operate.
How does Digitrax LocoNet work?
LocoNet is Digitrax’s method of communication between LocoNet compatible devices on a model railroad layout. LocoNet Compatible devices are designed to work together on the network, and in some cases can also accept DCC commands from the track, but often go beyond the scope of simple DCC train control.
Can DC locos run on DCC?
Yes it is possible to run DC loco’s on DCC using the address of 0. Not all DCC systems allow you to do it. If you do run the loco’s on DCC you cannot leave them idle with the track power on. You should run them then remove them.
Can you run DCC trains on analogue track?
Q: Will my DCC fitted locomotives still run on my analogue layout? A: Yes! DCC fitted models will run on analogue, however may be a little slower to respond. The opposite is not true, however, and we do not recommend running analogue locomotives on a digital layout as this can cause internal damage to your locomotive.
What does DCC stand for in model trains?
Digital Command Control
Digital Command Control (DCC) is a standard for a system to operate model railways digitally. When equipped with Digital Command Control, locomotives on the same electrical section of track can be independently controlled.
Will a DC engine run on a DCC track?
A DCC locomotive on a DC track will either run or not run. If it doesn’t the setting will need to be changed. Your friend could read the settings in the decoder.
Will a DCC fitted loco run on DC?
DCC loco’s can run on a DC system. At the factory the default value for a decoder is to have the loco run on both DCC and DC. The user can change this value so the loco can only run on DCC if he wishes to do so.
How does JMRI work with Digitrax loconet?
JMRI software, including DecoderPro and PanelPro, works with your Digitrax command station to program decoders. To do this, it communicates with the command station over the LocoNetĀ® using one of several types of adapter. JMRI software supports the following LocoNet-based command stations:
What makes a Digitrax DCC system high reliability?
High (good) reliability is defined as loconet’s ability to communicate without loss of control or commands at any time for any reason. Digitrax DCC system depends on it’s Loconet Cable to connect every device that runs on Loconet together.
How to connect a Digitrax to a command station?
Select the “Connections” item in the window at the left. Select “Digitrax” in the “System Manufacturer” box. Select the appropriate adapter type (or command station type, if using a computer-to-command station USB port connection) in the “System Connection” box.
What kind of adapter do I need for Digitrax loconet?
To connect your computer to a Digitrax DCC system, you need either a USB-equipped Command station (DCS240 or DCS52), or a computer-to-LocoNet adapter device such as a LocoBuffer-USB, PR3, PR4, LocoBuffer-II, LocoBuffer or MS100. The LocoBuffer-USB is a highly recommended computer-to-LocoNet adapter.
