What is a pulse fuel pump?
A pulse fuel pump uses the pressure differential produced by the engine to move a diaphragm inside the pump body. This pressure differential is generally transferred via a pulse tube to one side of a flexible diaphragm in the fuel pump.
What is a fuel pulse line?
The pulse line connects the pulse chamber. The pressure of the crankcase is pushed by the pulse through a pair on one way valves and fuel passes continuously, and in a correct measure, to power the engine.
Why is there no pulse to the fuel pump?
There is no pulse to the fuel pump. connecting hose to the valve cover looks good. Motor cranks freely. What else could cause this? with an assistant’s help, spray some rattle can carb cleaner down the carb throat while cranking engine. If engine starts momentarily or attempts to start, prob is most likely lack of fuel delivery.
What should I do with my fuel pump?
Also make sure that fuel supply lines to fuel pump are in good shape and that fuel filter is not clogged or installed backwards. Disconnect fuel pump to carb hose, crank engine. Should put out a stream of fuel (CAREFUL – catch gas in small container). If OK, clean/rebuild carb.
Can You Spray carb cleaner into hole in fuel pump?
Don’t spray that carb cleaner into that hole where that hose hooks to the carb – won’t help. Put the hose and everything else back together (except the air cleaner) before running that “tattle can’ test. BTW, if you’re not familiar with small gas engines, etc – might be best to have a Sears repairman out to look at it.
How to check the fuel line on a vacuum pump?
To do this, disconnect the fuel line from the vacuum inlet fitting on the vacuum pump. Take the fuel line and lower it to a point that is below the fuel tank and see if gravity will cause fuel to flow from the tank through the line. If fuel flows, than the line is clear. If fuel will not flow, than check the fuel filter to see if it is restricted.
How does the pulse line in a fuel pump work?
The pulse line connects the pulse chamber. The pressure of the crankcase is pushed by the pulse through a pair on one way valves and fuel passes continuously, and in a correct measure, to power the engine.
What are the limitations of a pulse fuel pump?
A pulse fuel pump has its own limitations. One cannot estimate the fuel pressure capacity while going uphill. The fuel is likely to rise when the vehicle climbs. The amount of fuel is always limited to the pressure or pumping value of the crankcase.
Can a fuel pump be mounted on the crankcase?
If the pump is close to the crankcase, the pulse tube could become damp and the efficiency of pumping fuel will be greatly reduced. The pump should never be mounted on the crankcase of the engine. This is because the engine vibrates.
What kind of fuel pump is used for two carburetors?
Rectangular pulse pumps are used for single carburetor applications. Round pumps are the more commonly used pumps and are used for large volumes of fuel feeding two carburetors. The 2-stroke engine pulse is connected to the crankcase of an engine.
