What does an ionization module do?
By analyzing the ionization current ECM can determine whether combustion is normal or misfiring and whether there is knocking. CDM generates a knock signal from the ionization information from the four cylinders and the signal is used by ECM to determine whether the engine is knocking.
How does ion sensor work?
Ion sensing systems are based on the principle that electrical current flow in an ionized gas is proportional to the flame electrical conductivity. Knock creates a pressure oscillation in the combustion chamber that is reflected in the current measurement.
Is an example of ion-selective electrode?
Glass membranes are made from an ion-exchange type of glass (silicate or chalcogenide). This type of ISE has good selectivity, but only for several single-charged cations; mainly H+, Na+, and Ag+. A very common example of this type of electrode is the pH glass electrode.
What is the most common type of ion-selective electrode?
The most common ISE is the pH electrode, which contains a thin glass membrane that responds to the H+ concentration in a solution. Other parameters that can be measured include fluoride, bromide, nitrate, and cadmium, and gases in solution such as ammonia, carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide, and oxygen.

What is the fault code for a 2006 Saab 9-5?
Just got my 2006 9-5. Fault codes as above (P1312, P1334), plus P0340. Need a new DIC ASAP, correct? P1312 and P1334 DTCs pertains to respectively cylinder bank 1+2 and 3+4, so the DIC is of course a suspect. P0340 is “Camshaft Position Sensor, malfunction”, however can be set by soothy spark plugs.
