What charges the battery on a Polaris four wheeler?
An ATV uses what is called a stator system or magneto system to charge its battery. This is a fairly simple and robust system located on the inside of the ATV’s engine. Any time the engine is running, the stator is continuously generating an electric charge.
How do I know if my ATV starter solenoid is bad?

Why is the battery on my Polaris not charging?
My battery is not charging, i’ve tried some of the troubleshooting tips including checking the stator,loose connections and bad rectifier. The stator is fine since it will run without battery connected, no loose connections, and three of the four wires on the rectifier had fire (the fourth wire is a ground). Any ideas of what it might be.
Why does my Polaris starter not turn on?
Well it used to run normal volts but I cant get it started no matter what even with a 300amp jump start.. so is there a solenoid or something between the starter and battery that can go out? I’m not so worried about my battery draining as I am about getting it to turn over again..

Why is my Polaris Sportsman 500 not charging?
It’a a 2003 sportsman 500 h.o. I’v checked the battery while running with multimeter and the voltage doesn’t change. It has a brand new battery, i rode the other day and it cranked fine all day but when i got home i shut it off for about an hour and got back on it and it wouldn’t turn over, charged battery put it back in and it cranked fine.
What to do if your Polaris wont start just clicks?
If no light is on turn the key on and you should see the light come on. You need a charged battery to do this test. You can also do this with a multimeter as well. If you do have a drain start pulling fuses to narrow your search. Hopefully this will help you figure out your issues, good luck!

What causes a Polaris ATV to not start?
It will be one of three things: The brushes are broken or work out (most likely), the starter is rusty and filled with sludge and crap or that the magnets have become unwelded from the side of the starter case. The first two can be easily fixed with an inexpensive rebuild kit and a cleaning.
