What causes wheels to rub?
Tire rub occurs when there is not enough space between the wheels and the rims. Tire rub can be damaging as it means your wheel will be smashing into the wheel well whenever you hit a bump in the road.
Is it bad if tire keeps rubbing fender?
In many cases of tire rubbing, wheel well liner damage as pictured above is as serious as the problem will get. Some enthusiasts actually accept this as a means to an end in exchange for upsized wheels and tires, and any associated performance benefits.
Does wheel offset cause rubbing?

Can I put wider tires on my stock rims?

Will taller tires rub?

Why does my car make a rubbing noise when I turn?

Do negative offset wheels rub more?
On these trucks, moving the wheel outboard almost always causes more rubbing. The exception is if you have a wide enough tire on the stock wheels, the tires can rub on the radius arms. To avoid rubbing, look at 20×9 wheels with +18 mm offset or perhaps 0 mm offset. Going negative is just going to make it worse.
Does wheel offset have to be exact?
If you decide to change your wheels, offset is a very important factor to consider. If you select an aftermarket wheel with the exact same offset, you will always have the exact same scrub radius. Suspension and handling properties will not change. If the wheel is too much wider, it will not fit.
Can I replace my 15 rims with 16?
A vehicle equipped with a 16-inch rim and tire package can be changed to a 15-inch rim and tire. The rolling distance changes if the total diameter of the tire and wheel combination is changed, and that causes the speedometer to be inaccurate.
