Is there a problem with my Toyota Tundra?
Discussion in ‘ 2nd Gen Tundras (2007-2013) ‘ started by jtx0741, Feb 27, 2019 . Turned on the truck and the 4lo, check engine, and trac off lights were all on. After looking online I saw it’s a pretty common problem on Toyota with the secondary air injection pump seizing.
What was the code for the Toyota Tundra air pump failure?
First post – stoked to own a Tundra! But after 3 months of ownership on a 2013 4.6L 4×4 Tundra, had the secondary AIP fail. The official codes it threw were P1604 (startability malfunction) P1605 (rough idling), P2440 (secondary air injection system switching valve stuck open Bank 1) according to Toyota dealership. Cost was just under $3k to fix.

Where are the air injection pumps on a Toyota Tundra?
TRD center caps, center console tray, Alpine speakers, Alpine amp, Pioneer amp & 10″ subwoofer. TRD shift knob, TRD oil cap, TRD radiator cap, Drivers side grab handle. I had the pumps replaced twice on my 2008. Then it was covered both times by the 100,000 mile warranty.
My 4.7, 2005 Tundra has a problem starting. It’ll sometime click or or no sound. Lights all come on. After a few times then it starts. Look up TSB TC018-07. Probably has not been resolved and Toyota gave up since they can’t figure out what’s going on. They are unwilling to throw parts at it unless they can verify that parts are bad at at this point won’t mess with it until I change the front struts (the left front has a very minimal leak).
