Is the Jeep Commander a good car to buy?

Is the Jeep Commander a good car to buy?

I have a recently bought Jeep Commander, 2006 5.7L 4×4, 75K miles (little old lady owned it before me, bought it new). We bought the Jeep for my GF (I own a wrangler, and love her, haha). The Commander drives great 98% of the time. The hemi is a blast, it starts and stops fine, no odd noises, nothings.

Is the front differential on a Jeep Commander worn out?

Front differential bushings, particularly the UPPER front differential bushings are notorious for wearing on Commanders & Grand Cherokees alike – at least from my experience. I had an 08 Grand Cherokee with low mileage – about 50K miles that had a worn front upper differential bushing. Never had it replaced because it wound up getting totaled.

How entailed is transmission fluid change on 3.7L?

Probablly easier to just have the deal do it. I just did the fluid & filter change on my 3.7L Commander, its a NAG1/W5A580 trans. Its a Mercedes trans, there is a Mercedes designation as well, 722.3 or 722.6, NOT sure on that number.

When to change the oil in a jeep?

The FSM says to change the oil when its hot, to idle the motor until its at full operating temp. Have an old towel, you will spill fluid, there is no way around it unless you find a 3 ft wide catch pan.

Is the shock on a Jeep Commander a strut?

The front coil over shock with a strut bushing “shock” of the Commander, looks a lot like, and functions in many ways like a MacPherson Strut. But the Commander has double wishbone front suspension, NOT a macpherson strut suspension. People call it a strut, calling it a MacPherson strut would be wrong, perhaps technically it is still a shock.

What causes bump steer on a Jeep Wrangler?

Bump steer occurs when the vehicle darts right or left after hitting a bump in the road, and is easier to identify through improperly installed suspension kits, or broken/damaged steering components. Nor should it be confused with a vibrations felt at higher speeds, as this is normally caused by an improperly aligned vehicle.

What kind of ride does a Jeep Commander have?

The 2006 Jeep Commander has not yet been crash tested. In spite of its boxy shape, the 2006 Jeep Commander has a rather quiet and serene ride. Road and wind noise is minimal, and the ride is smooth. The suspension dampens imperfections in the road well, and the rack and pinion steering provides a solid and responsive road feel.

Are there any problems with the Jeep Commander?

Great tow vehicle , still economical with 2 tonne hanging off the back. No major problems at 195,000kms (approx 125,000 miles). Runs like new..still got another 100,000 kms (60,000 miles) at least in it. The Commander started with a number of stupid problems..software not quite right, sun roof drain tubes blocked etc etc.
