Is it okay to hook the PCV valve into the air cleaner?

Is it okay to hook the PCV valve into the air cleaner?

Vacuum won’t be pulled on the crankcase if you connect the PCV valve to the air cleaner. The hole on the other valve cover is where you draw in fresh air (either through the air cleaner or a filtered breather).

What does PCV valve connect to?

A hose connects the top of the PCV valve to a vacuum port on the throttle body, carburetor or intake manifold. This allows the vapors to be siphoned directly into the engine without gumming up the throttle body or carburetor.

Where does the PCV go on a carb?

The PCV goes to the base of the carb. The other valve cover should have a tube that goes to the air cleaner base. You can use an aftermarket breather that has the tube fitting on it in the opposite side valve cover from the PCV,and run a rubber hose from it to the base of the air cleaner.

Can a PCV be used as an air cleaner?

The other valve cover should have a tube that goes to the air cleaner base. You can use an aftermarket breather that has the tube fitting on it in the opposite side valve cover from the PCV,and run a rubber hose from it to the base of the air cleaner. Some bases have a hole that you can punch out and bolt a fitting to for this, while some dont.

Is the vent from the PCV valve back into the air?

There is something called a pcv/ccv which has a tiny hole and acts as a valve. Usually further away from the front of the vehicle. Then, what I think OP is asking about, is basically a vent that goes into your air filter which is often misidentified as a pvc valve and ordered incorrectly because they look identical at a glance.

How does PCV valve affect air fuel ratio?

From the PCV valve, the vapors and gases are drawn into the intake of the engine to be burned by combustion. If too many vapors and gases get into the intake manifold, it may upset the air-fuel ratio.

What is the purpose of the PCV valve?

The PCV system serves two purposes: one is to vent the excess pressure from the crankcase, the other is to recycle the gas (I mean ‘gas’ as pressurized air containing fuel and oil and other pollutants). By using vented breathers in the valve covers, you are just venting this excess gas/pressure into the air. Shhh….don’t tell Al Gore.
