Is it bad to run a dirt bike on choke?
The one thing that nobody mentioned is there are times where the engine only runs with the choke on. This is not a good thing. It means that the engine is running too lean – not getting enough fuel and thus needs to reduce the air to run.
What happens when you leave the choke on a bike?
Bike finally runs on the choke but runs like crap. Rough on idle, when I tap the throttle bike dies. When I take off the choke bike dies. If I leave the choke on and let the bike get warm it runs for a bit and then slowly dies. When trying to ride it hesitates and then jumps to life and then hesitates, sounds like left side backfires.
How do you fix choke on dirt bike?
Put the choke on and start the bike up. Once is running, mist some carb cleaner or starting fluid around the air boot and around the vacuum hoses (if there are any). If the engine momentarily races, then you have an air leak. Read below in the section on how to fix air leaks to get this addressed.
What should I do if my bike is stalling?
What you might be doing with the choke is trying to keep the bike running, and that is a job better done with the idle stop screw. Try to increase the idle with this screw, and hopefully the bike will at least run without using the choke.
Why does my bike stall when I switch gears?
When the bike is actually rolling there doesn’t seem to be too much of a problem, except that it stalls when you switch gears unless you have the choke in a bit (this bike, you can never turn off the choke or it stalls immediately) otherwise the bike stalls even if you are giving it gas.
