Is it bad to race with AC on?
So its pretty common knowledge to turn your AC off when drag racing at a track. In addition, it could also slightly reduce power. But if you’re just talking about going wide open driving around on the street, its doesn’t matter. It doesn’t hurt anything to have your AC on.
Why does my engine stall every time I Turn on the AC?
Your a/c compressor is binding up and the pully wheel isn’t turning. When the belt is stopped it puts a huge strain on your motor marking it stall. Get your ac checked out. It’s likely a bad compressor and not likely any wrong with the engine. Some loading is normal but your PCM will adjust accordingly.
What happens when the AC is turned on in a car?
As long as you are cool, and the car doesn’t stall when the AC kicks in that’s the best you can expect. You might want to have the Idle Air Control valve checked out. When the AC is turned on it puts a load on the engine.
Why does my car shake when the AC is on?
When the AC is turned on it puts a load on the engine. The IAC valve is supposed to bump the idle speed up to compensate for this extra load put on the engine. If the IAC valve fails to go to the proper position for this extra load on the engine, the engine will shake and jerk while stopped and idling.
Why does my car stall at a red light?
Check engine wiring When I sit in my car at a red light idling with the air conditioning on the car kind if shudders ever 30 or 40 seconds, feels like it is stalling, what is happening? When was the last time you had an A/C system tune up?
Why does my car stall when I Turn on the AC?
The AC was replaced about a month ago, but not sure if that is related or not. Might be related to your IAC valve: it takes care of your idle speed. If it isn’t working well, your idle will be way low, possibly too low to run an AC. The IAC usually just needs cleaning which is an easy DYI job and is an inexpensive thing to try.
When does the a / C compressor engage, the engine stalls?
When the A/C compressor engages at idle in park or neutral every five to ten seconds the idle drops and will either almost stall the engine or occasionally does stall the engine. This happens in drive as well, and when driving, since the rpm’s drop and come back up, the vehicle surges at low speeds.
Why does my engine die when I Turn on the AC?
It would only die when the AC compressor clutch was engaged, and the engine was at idle. Generally, I’d expect other IAC issues to present themselves- like no high idle at startup, no idle boost (engine sputters and struggles, may not die) when the steering is cranked all the way and held at it’s limit.
