How to reset rear lift gate on Subaru Outback?
That should be “press and hold” – and it is the button on the outside of the rear gate. Holding it pressed down for more than 5 seconds (maybe 7? a good count of 10). thx all. Will try that next time, as I think I have a recurring problem here. Gonna be a once a month deal.

Power windows/locks are pretty solid these days, the motors and mechanisms have been engineered and tested extensively, to a pretty high number of cycles, before failure. The hatch mechanisms, not-so-much. I’d actually choose a “no power hatch” option, if there were such a thing, without hesitancy.
