How to change tail light bulb in 2013 Hyundai Elantra?
This video demonstrates how to change a burnt out taillight bulb on your 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT. Some of the other bulbs in the tail light cluster such as the brake light or turn signal may also function as the tail light in your Elantra GT.
What do I need to replace tail light bulbs?
The only tools needed to replace any of the tail light bulbs include a Phillips head screwdriver, a 10mm socket and a ratcheting wrench. The larger tail light assemblies at the rear corners of the ’11-’13 Elantra contain the brake, turn signal, side marker and one of the two parking light bulbs.
How to replace brake and turn signal light bulbs?
To replace the larger brake and turn signal light bulbs, insert the bulb into the socket, push down and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to lock it in place. Then insert any of the bulbs and sockets back into the tail light and rotate them 1/4 turn clockwise to lock them in place.
How do you replace tail light on Hyundai Elantra?
Open trunk. Remove the cover and access the back of the tail light assembly. Disconnect the electrical wire. Remove three 10 mm nuts that hold the tail light in place. Now you should be able to pull the rear tail light assembly from the body of your Elantra. Remove the brake light socket by turning it counterclockwise.

Near the tail lights, you will see a panel. You will need to open that up to get access. NOTE: the first time you open this panel, it might not open!
How do you remove a light bulb from a Hyundai?
To remove the bulb from the holder, grab the bulb by the metal part (NOT the glass), press it down (it should depress slightly), and twist to remove it. If you grab the glass, you may twist it away from the metal base and the process gets a bit more complicated if you break the bulb.

From there, you will re-attach the tail light assembly. Be sure to get the lip on the assembly attached to the plug on the body of the car (see the video). Once the three bolts are through the holes, you go back into the trunk and then hand-tighten the nuts back on. Then further tighten using the socket wrench.
