Trip Overview: The 51 mile Zion Traverse (aka Trans Zion Trek) backpacking trip combines several different trails to span the entirety of Zion National Park from northwest to southeast.

It’s a 40-mile drive from Springdale to the Kolob Canyons entrance. You’ll need to take a shuttle service, hire someone to drive you, or take two cars and do a self-shuttle. We found that the easiest and most logistically smooth way to complete the Zion Traverse is to hire a shuttle service.
How do you poop in Zion?
If you must go while on the trail, clean up (including paper) as you would with a pet. An easy solution is to use lightweight bags that come with toilet paper and chemicals that convert human waste so it can be thrown away safely. These bags are sold at outdoor stores and the Zion National Park bookstore.

Can you drive through Zion?

Where are the trailheads in Zion National Park?
Depending on your hike direction, you will start or end your trip at two remote trailheads: Lee Pass Trailhead, located in the Kolab Canyon northwestern part of the part and The Zion National Park East Entrance, located near the eastern boundary of the park.
When to get a permit for Zion Traverse?
Reservations are available online, for an additional $5 fee, up to three months in advance of your trip date and become available the fifth day of every month at 10am Mountain Time. So for a trip in June, you can look for permits starting April 5,, in July on May 5, and so one.
