How do you use the shift lock release on a Hyundai?
Here are the steps for employing the shift lock release.
- Engage the emergency brake / parking brake.
- Find the shift lock override slot.
- Insert a key, nail file, or screwdriver into the slot.
- Press the brake pedal while you are pressing down on the override,
- Shift gears as you normally would.
Push down the black plastic button to release the shift lock mechanism. Keep your foot on the brake pedal and set the emergency / parking brake to make sure the vehicle doesn’t move unexpectedly. While holding down the shift lock release button, push the gear selector back from “Park” to “Neutral”.
Can a Hyundai Elantra shift into 6th gear?
