Is the TPMS system on my GMC Canyon working?

IMO that system is flawed and useless even when it’s working as it doesn’t identify a tire by actual position if one has an issue. I have a 2008 and recently replaced the instrument cluster with one from a 2006 , which doesn’t have TPMS .

Can a TPMS reading show a flat tire?

I only use them as a trend indicator for a tire going flat. They are actually quite accurate. But, if you live above sea level you just have to understand that the altitude induces an error because the system is not actually measuring the pressure difference between the tire and the atmosphere. e.g. At 5000′ the system will be off by 2.5 psi

Why does my TPMS light never go out?

Drove the car for a week after verifying air pressure was good on all 4 tires before taking to Discount Tire to get the sensors read because the TPMS light never went out. See my response to Ddaddy for more about that.

Is it normal to have a low tire pressure reading?

This is normal if you understand how they work. This is normal if you understand tire pressure is dynamic. So did a little reading on TPMS vs external gauge pressure readings and consensus seems to be do not use the TPMS for setting tire pressures, rather use a handheld gauge for that and just use the TPMS for flat monitoring.

When to reset TPMS sensor on Chevy Colorado?

If you replacing a spare tire with a road tire containing the TPMS sensor on your 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020 2021 Chevy Colorado, the system will detect a malfunction and the low tire pressure warning light will blink. When that happens, the TPMS sensor reset process must be done.

Are there any problems with the TPMS system?

Some TPMS problems include: 1 Sensor batteries may be dead; 2 Valve itself may have physical damage, corrosion or missing components; 3 The TPMS system voltage supply, wiring or internal electronics may not be functioning properly; 4 The tires were serviced or rotated and the relearn procedure was not properly performed.
