I have a 1996 Polaris 500 Classic Touring. It has burned wholes in 3 pistons I know of, 1 for the guy I bought it from and 2 for me. Always burns at WOT, if i am good to to it it runs fine. So I have been told to re jet 2 sizes richer and raise the needle (lower clip).
