Does Sky work with Openreach?
Openreach are responsible for the UK’s communications access network – including the physical phone line Sky provides our Sky Talk phone service over. We’ll request the Openreach engineer install one main phone socket at your address – we do not currently offer additional phone sockets.
How long does Openreach take to install?
If the fibre cable is not near you, it may need major external work (involving road closures for example) before an engineer can install an ONT. First, Openreach will send an engineer to assess how much work is needed. They’ll aim to do this within 5 working days of you placing your order.
How long does it take for a Sky engineer to install Sky Q?
Homes that have a dish installed and a relatively recent version of Sky devices can have the whole replacement done within two hours. However, if you do not have the main components and there is wiring work included, it can go well over three hours.
Can Sky install without a phone line?
When you order Sky Broadband & Talk, if you don’t have a suitable phone line, we’ll have booked an engineer to install your broadband. But if you already have a suitable phone line, we’ll activate you remotely instead.
Who is responsible for telephone line from pole to house?
All telephone lines from the exchange to your house “point” are the responsibility of BT’s “Open Reach” division. They won’t let anyone else touch it. Your telephone service provider i.e. Talk Talk should liase with BT open reach to get it repaired. However they appear to quote a BT Engineer call out of £100??
What happens if Sky engineer didn’t turn up?
If the activation is delayed because your engineer missed the appointment, we’ll try to rebook the appointment with you. If we can’t reach you, we’ll pay you compensation up to the first available appointment.
Does Sky Q have to be installed by an engineer?
Do you need an engineer to install Sky Q? Although the process of installing Sky Q is quick and simple, you will need an experienced engineer’s assistance to install Sky Q, even if you are upgrading from an old Sky service.
Do you need an Openreach phone line to use Sky?
If you don’t already have an Openreach telephone line running to your property, Sky will arrange this to happen for you. It will require an engineer to visit, but they will try to get things up and running from outside your home wherever possible.
How long does it take to install a sky phone line?
Sky will simply take over the running of your phone line from your current provider. In this case, installation usually takes about two weeks and is free. If you don’t already have an Openreach telephone line running to your property, Sky will arrange this to happen for you.
What do I need to install Sky TV in my house?

Getting new services up and running in your home requires the installation of hardware in the form of a router, a set top box, sometimes new cables, and in Sky’s case, a satellite dish.
Do you need an engineer to set up Sky Q?
A visit from a Sky TV engineer is required to get Sky Q up and running. The engineer will check that everything is ok with the dish and will set up both the Sky Q set-top box and any Sky Q Mini boxes you may have ordered.
