Does menactra cover meningitis B?
Men ACYW (Menactra® and Menveo®) are composed of capsular polysaccharide conjugated to a protein and cover meningococcal strains A, C, W, and Y. The Men ACYW vaccines are recommended for routine use in adolescents aged 11 or 12 years, with a booster dose at age 16 years.
Can you give Menactra and MenB together?
Vaccine providers can administer MenACWY with tetanus toxoid, reduced diphtheria toxoid, and acellular pertussis (Tdap), human papillomavirus (HPV), and MenB vaccines. Healthy children 9 through 23 months of age can receive Menactra® with other vaccines.
Is meningitis B vaccine required for college students?
CDC recommends a meningococcal conjugate (MenACWY) vaccine for first-year college students living in residence halls. If they received it before their 16th birthday, they need a booster shot for maximum protection before going to college.
Can you give mcv4 and MenB at the same time?
You can administer MenACWY and MenB vaccines at the same time. You can also administer them with other vaccines recommended for adolescents. Vaccine providers may administer meningococcal and other vaccines during the same visit, but at different injection sites if feasible.

Meningitis B is one type of meningococcal disease (frequently referred to as meningitis) caused by the bacteria Neisseria meningitidis. Meningitis can attack the brain and spinal cord and cause swelling in those areas as well as a serious infection of the bloodstream, called septicemia.

Menactra vaccine is administered as a 0.5 mL dose by intramuscular injection. In children 9 through 23 months of age, Menactra is given as a 2-dose series three months apart. Individuals 2 through 55 years of age receive a single dose. Do not administer this product intravenously or subcutaneously.
