It does have a unique smell. I wouldn’t say like popcorn, but more like some kind of alcoholic drink. I think it smells good, but race gas smells good too.

Where does the gas smell come from in my Silverado Sierra?
I keep getting a strong smell of gas, only by the gas cap area/back of the bed on the left side. I have not found any leaks at all, but the smell is the strongest when standing by that side of the truck.
