Can a PARKTRONIC sensor fail on a Mercedes 211?
But you can only see the front of the sensor and usually when they fail on a 211, it is visible when you remove the sensor. It could be a wiring issue to if it appears when braking. Never heard of a SW issue with Parktronic but the first time can happen any time. Ah, I see. Thanks for the info.

It can still be coaxed to work, and will still correctly show how close objects are whilst parking, but is there any way to re-set the system to clear whatever has caused the initial fault? Checked all the sensors (front & rear) and there are no visible signs of damage which would explain the presence of this error.

My 2005 model has developed a fault with the parking sensors whereby they will beep in general braking (with no other vehicle/object around). The display on top of the dashboard will simultaneously show 4 red leds, and the system will ultimately switch itself off.

Park assist sensors are ultrasonic sensors that can be found in the front and rear bumper covers. However, there can be additional locations, such as bottom of the fender, on certain vehicles equipped with Active Park Assist.
