What kind of oil does a Toyota Camry use?
No sign of the excessive oil consumption some are experiencing. I use synthetic 0w20 oil and rev the engine hard on occasion which I feel is essential. Update 9-6-17: Traded in June 2016 on another 2009, this one is a CE manual transmission, the auto was as good as it could be, but ultimately I prefer the manual. Was this review helpful? (18) (0)

Example if you bought your Camry April 1 2008 you would be coveted to April 1 2018. A lot of the 2AZ-FE 2.4 L engines ( from 2007-2009) had the oil consumption problems to to poorly designed pistons and rings.

So…our 2009 Toyota Camry started going through a lot of oil these past several years. It currently has around 127,000 miles and we have to put a quart or more oil in it every 2 weeks or so and/or about every 400 miles between standard 3,000 mile oil changes.

My car is 2009 Toyota Camry le. The engine is burning oil internally. There is no external leakage. Noticed the problem in may 2019. Have oil change done. After 600 miles, noticed the same problem excessive oil consumption on July 27, 2019. In my opinion it is a safety hazard and should have a recall. .
