Are there oil lines on my 1990 Sportster?

Just documenting the location of the oil lines on the 1990 Sportster for replacement. The oil lines are in pretty bad shape (cracked and leaking at fittings) and all of them need to be replaced. Also going to replace the oil tank (the chrome one is UGLY).

How big is a vent hose on a Sportster?

It seems to me, on the older Sportsters there are the pressure hose, and 3/8 inch drain and return, plus and here I have a hard time remembering but I think 1/4 inch vent hose. There are some “ell’s” and a “tee” in the vent line I believe.

How to replace the oil hose on a Harley Davidson?

Click to expand… YA man, don’t go getting crazy on the oil lines cause it’s just oil hose that can be had anyplace. If the OEM hoses still have the OEM clamps ya gotta cut those off with a side cutters (dikes) and replace them with the screw clamps unless you want the OEM clamps.

Where can I get an oil hose kit?

There isn’t a hose “kit” you’ll have to purchase everything piece meal. I would get the hose from the hardware store, the bulk hose from the H-D dealer is expensive. Use brake cleaner and get rid of the oil. That includes any underneath. Then ride for a while and see EXACTLY where the oil is coming from.
