I was an ASE Certified Tech in six repair areas including engine repair. These engines have no iron cylinder sleeves except for a very thin coating that has worn away causing piston slap. Hyundai/Kia knows of this problem but won’t repair.

TSB to reflash ECM. In & out in 20 minutes. Error code thrown by knock sensor. Fixed with software update. Throttle was sticking when the clutch was pressed in, causing the engine to rev. Check engine light came on. Caused by pre-ignition. Cure was to reflash knock sensor.

Why is my Hyundai Accent throwing OBDII code?
The EVAP system captures all fuel vapor from the fuel tank and sends them to the engines intake in order to be ignited in the normal combustion process. When the Hyundai Accent computer detects that the EVAP system is purging when it should not be, it will throw the P0496 OBDII code.
