Are there any back lights for climate control?
I have no back lights for my climate control. Anyone know if this is a huge problem or a simple fix. Obviously this picture with the cabin lights off. those have very small bulbs behind them and they can be changed. Most people replace them with LED’s. There is a write up somewhere here. please if u can show me direction.
How do you get a backlight on a jeep?
You can carefully pull while turning them and they should pop out when you find the slot. Using a flat screwdriver unclip the clamshell plastic housing and then remove the control board. You will see the three burned out lamps on the face of the board, using a pair of pliers grab them at the plastic base and gently twist, they come off very easy.
What to do if your back light blows out?
Yep these things blow out a lot, many guys have switched to LED’s for the back. Look into doing that. The factory bulbs heat up and blow out! this should help ya out. heres timmys write up. if thats not good enough, then click the bottom link where theres 4 others to chose from.

Then remove the hvac unit and control knobs. Careful with the knobs, they are keyed and will only remove when turned to a certain position. What kind of LEDs do I need for my climate control?
Reassemble and plug it back in, should work like new. I looked for equivalent LED replacements at Radio Shack but they only had colored 12v 5mA LED’s ( Red – Blue- orange- yellow- green) The sales associate looked for clear/white leds and could find nothing available in thier catalog.
Why does the green light on the shifter not work?
The green “o”n button works all of the time – when you turn A/C on, defrost, etc. There does not seem to be a problem with the controls alone, just no light. Adjusting the dim/brightness does not help. The shifter light does not work either. The gear appears with the mileage on the speedometer, but does not light up on the shifter.
