Why does my Jeep have a service 4WD light?
The service manager called later in the day and mentioned they pulled a DTC from the DTCM that was isolated as being a faulty code generated from the ELSD due to faulty programming from Chrysler. Seems I’ve read several other people were told the same thing, only to find out that the “flash” repair process isn’t the fix for everyone.
Is there a problem with my 4 wheel drive Jeep?
Dealer diagnosed a problem as the transfer case shift motor. He said Jeep must be having a problem with them because replacements were on national back order (might take a month or more to get one). He said that I can keep driving it without any harm, and it shifts in and out of 4 wheel low just fine.

Found one for $200 that came from a parts vehicle, 2014 Overland. I decided to give it a try. Replaced the TC Module (under the drivers seat) by removing the fuse first and then plug and play with the module, and all is back to normal.

Click to expand… X2 Robby is correct. Mine does it everytime I plug my trailer in. It flashes for s second then goes out until I have to restart. It started right after the last time it was reprogrammed. Mine was acting up pretty bad for awhile. I kept trying to reset the computer. I finally started looking at the wheel sensors and wiring.

When the AWD mode is selected as “Auto” the thing could be pedalled to the floor during a turn and drive as straight and true as my wife’s AWD Audi. This may be a sign that the AWD is disabled, which would explain the “ESC off light”.

Went through the hassle of draining, opening, R&R actuator in the front diff only to have the replacement actuator be faulty. It would actuate and stick in position locking the front diff and causing binding while turning. Had to do the whole repair all over, but second actuator fixed it!

Is the Jeep WK2 still a 4WD vehicle?
My assessment is all 4WD capabilities are still functioning well in both High and Low settings. My WK2 is an Overland with Selec-Terrain, QDII, and QL. Haven’t had one mechanical issue with the vehicle since I bought it almost 2 years ago at 40,000 miles. This issue just arose around 85,000 miles.
