What should the operating temp of a Jeep Cherokee be?

What should the operating temp of a Jeep Cherokee be?

You could suspect other things like the engine speed decrease (your thought) or a fan clutch issue, but the 185 degree F operating temp under most circumstances is very acceptable/desirable. Your Jeep likely suffers from the 33″ tires and stock gearing.

What should temp be on Jeep Wrangler 1008?

From some resistance tables I’ve found on the internet, 1008 is somewhere between 80 and 90 C (175 and 194 F). Would this be normal even if tstat is rated at 195F? All the time temp gauge shows around 70-75 C, it reads lower.

What causes a Jeep Cherokee engine to overheat?

There are several belts that may cause overheating just by being loose or worn out. Similarly, hoses can deteriorate or become loose. Belts like the serpentine belt may wear out. When it wears out, your water pump will not be able to do its job if water cannot be pumped in to cool the engine and radiator.

What happens when the thermostat is stuck open on a Jeep Cherokee?

When the thermostat is stuck open, the vehicle will be getting too much coolant. On the other hand, if it is stuck in the closed position, the radiator will not be getting any coolant at all.

What’s the operating temp of a 1988 Jeep Cherokee?

1988 Jeep Cherokee w/ 410,000+ miles. Now a 100% Electric Vehicle! Hi, I was going to post a similar thread. My 91 YJ (with a 4 banger) had an operating temp of 210°F. I just replaced the thermostat (and heater core and their hoses along with a rad flush) with a 180°F variety.

What should normal operating temp of jeepz be?

This is an old post. FYI you need to run a 195 deg thermo. The temp will run at 210 and the PCM will adjust the air fuel to try to attain 210. By running 165 you are not allowing the engine to come to temp and gain the efficiency it can reach. I doubt the intake and headers directly caused you to run hotter.

What is the normal operating temp for a 2004 Cherokee 4.7?

What is the normal operating temperature be for a 2004 Cherokee 4.7. Would that also about 210 ? This weekend I will be replacing the Thermostat, thermostat sensor, radiator cap and doing a radiator flush. hopefully this will resolve the over heating issue. I have been noticing my clutch fan as been coming on more often.

Why does my Jeep Wrangler have a low temp?

Thermometers like this can be inaccurate on rubber surfaces, so check heat at metal points when possible. If the gauge is accurate and if your Jeep’s cooling system is full and “burped”, with no sign of low coolant (overflow reservoir filled to the correct line and radiator full when cold), the low temperature reading is likely a thermostat issue.

What should my operating temp be on my 91 YJ?

My 91 YJ (with a 4 banger) had an operating temp of 210°F. I just replaced the thermostat (and heater core and their hoses along with a rad flush) with a 180°F variety. Now my operating temp has dropped to about 185°. I assume this is because of the thermostat change (and possibly the other cooling system replacements).
