Why is the tow / haul button not working?
Re: Tow/haul button not working. As stated above, it is the wire from the switch in the steering column that has developed an open in it. I believe there is a thread on this site that explains how to replace the switch. If not I’m sure you can google it and someone has posted a video on line of how to do it.

What happens when you go into Tow / Haul mode?
When it does shift, the shift will not be as ‘smooth’ as normal driving mode. This gives you max engine power and best transmission performance. Besides, if you tried O/D and Tow/Haul, the computer would actually keep it in 3rd gear unless you were going down hill.
