Why does the Boot open light keep coming on?
A few other times the boot open light has gone on, but after a few solid closes, it usually goes away. This week however, no matter how hard I slam the boot lid, the light stays on. And now, when (whilst) I’m driving, it blinks. Rather annoying as it catches your eye.

Do you know if the switch mounted inside the boot lid (the one covered in a rubber gait) should switch off either the “Boot Open” warning light and/or the lights inside the boot if it is pressed in?

What happens when you leave the trunk light on?
The car’s alternator is a battery maintainer, not a charger. If you have a Battery Saver circuit, then most likely the trunk light will be turned off after 30-45 minutes.
Why does the boot light flash when the car is locked?
In summary, my E46 was showing the dash warning light/sign that my boot was open, when it wasn’t. This had no effect on the locking mechanism (I was happy the car was securely locking), but the alarm wouldn’t arm, nor would the indicators flash when locking.
