Why is my door handle not working?
If nothing happens when you turn the knob, it’s usually because the set screw holding the knob to the rod has worked itself loose. If the bolt moves, but not enough to allow the door to open, the mechanism probably needs lubrication. Replace the handle and tighten the screw.
How do you fix a door handle that won’t engage?
Here are the general steps to remove the handle and lock from the door and test the retraction mechanism:
- Take knob/handle off the door.
- Remove the thru spindle.
- Place flat-head screwdriver in the gap you removed the spindle from.
- Twist the screwdriver to see if the mechanism engages properly.
Why does the hood latch on my XJ stick?
If not properly maintained XJ hood latches can stick shut because the release cable has broken or come loose. Short of cutting the sides of the fenders open, you’ll need to crawl underneath and use some creative movement to grab the release cable with some pliers and pull real hard.
Is the XJ radiator a closed or open system?
XJ’s are notorious for overheating. From early years until the early 90’s they came with a “closed” cooling system. When functioning properly, these systems should perform fine. “Open” systems, on later model XJ’s, are just like most typical cooling systems (filler cap on radiator, etc).
What should I use to replace my Jeep door?
We also stock door hinge bushings to make opening and closing, as well as removing your doors much easier. And when it’s time to put your doors back on, door pin guides can help you line up the door hinge pins with the hinge, reducing the chance you’ll scratch your Jeep’s paint.
Is the slip yoke external on a Jeep XJ?
On 96-01 due to a design change, the slip yoke is external (does not slide in and out of the transfer case). This slip yoke is covered with a rubber boot. (Note on Dana 35 axles sometimes referred to as Dana 35C – The “C” does not stand for c-clip. It stands for “custom” meaning it came from Dana unfinished.)
