How do you change fuel in a Jaguar X type?

First empty the tank – there’s no drain plug you need a siphon and pump. Lift the back seat out –easy enough. Prise the grommet from the floor panel and disconnect the wiring, Jack the car right up high. Disconnect the fuel filter, the breather hose. Loosen the fuel filler clamp. Remove the prop shaft – it will be siezed on every screw.

How long does it take to change fuel pump on Jaguar X?

Changing the fuel pump on a 2001 Jaguar X Type 2.5 V6 Petrol Manual. Includes removing the seat, cutting the floor panel, removing the pump and changing the fuel sender. Not a job for the faint hearted but only takes two hours if you are clued up with good hand tools.

What kind of fuel pump does an X type use?

My understanding is that the X Type shares a lot of parts with the Ford Mondeo, so I searched around & I sourced a brand new 2003 Mondeo 2.0 pump (which LOOKS identical) for £65. If I google the part number on top of the old pump I find Ford parts.

Is the Mondeo fuel pump compatible with the X type?

What I have found is that the MK3 Mondeo pumps are cross-compatible with lots of Mondeo models, with different engine sizes & years, but nowhere seems to say that they are compatible with the X Type. The thing that’s hugely different between the two is the price. Is it simply down to it being a ‘Jaguar’ part?
