Why does my Pathy not Rev past 2000 rpm?
It usually pops up if I don’t drive the pathy for a few days (like when we came back after Christmas) but it has happened just by shutting off to get gas and restarting. The problem is simply that it won’t rev past 2000 rpm. It feels like somebody turnes off the key but I really think the fuel injectors stop pumping any fuel.
What kind of car will not Rev past 3000 rpm?
I have a year 2000 E220CDI and the engine will not rev higher than 3000 rpm. It starts ok and runs ok for a while then the problem appears, quite worrying when your trying to overtake or coming out of a junction and suddenly the car will not accelerate!!
Is there any reason to exceed 2000 rpm?
@Nevada_545 , There is no reason to exceed 2000 rpm’s in park or neutral . Are you saying you think the engine is supposed to do what it’s doing as far as rpm’s go ?
Why does my npora not rev to 2000 rpm?
I replaced the ground from the frame to the engine block a couple of years ago (old one was looking ratty). When I press on the gas pedal (in gear or driving) the engine accelerates up to 2000 rpm (sometimes the cutoff point is at 2200 or even 2400 rpm) then its like it shuts off, no stumble/roughness nothing!

It will NOT limit an engine to 3000 rpm and it will NOT cause the computer to become confused for any reason. A clogged catalytic converter or clogged exhaust, usually from being bent will limit the engines rpm because it can’t “exhale”.

Egr and PCV won’t prevent engine rpms from increasing. Its either as Tenspeed said, computer controlled rev limiter or a common one is a clogged exhaust, the most common under that category is backed into a curb and bent something or clogged cat.

Now I can pull a skiier for about ten minutes @ 3300rpm without any problem. After this the engine won’t go over 3000 rpm no matter how much throttle is added. The engine will hesitate & sputter but stays @ 3000rpm.
