How do I install Jaguar map updates?

How does sat nav work on a Jaguar?
Press Nav and it goes to the screen where you press Agree. Takes a while to go into maps, so its slower. It shows no roads, just a cursor on blank screen. If I try any of the nav menus, its slow and sometimes times out saying that the operation could not be performed or words to that effect.

Bluetooth & phone will not be available during the update. However, you can split the update into several shorter sessions, but it will take much longer then (in my case around 10 commuting sessions of ~1/2h each). According to instructions plan for up to 3h non-stop.

The air climate control is in some sort of default mode defogging the windshield. The LCD status window below the screen flashes “C” the “50” then “51”. I have tried swapping out the Nav/Audio/Climate screen assembly in the cabin AND left the positive lead off the car overnight. To my surprise neither action worked.
Why are the discs on a Jaguar yellow?
The original Jaguar ones were gold/yellow because they used a far superior dye in the discs. Guys this thread is from 2011, so I would imagine the OP has either sorted the problem or already have another car ;-). More options…
