Is the 2005 X Type 2 litre diesel engine management fault?
2005 X-Type 2-litre diesel – engine management fault? The car has covered over 123,000 miles and has been properly and regularly serviced. It suffers a bit from diesel knock (which is progressively worsening): I’m assuming this is injector related?
Why is my X type diesel engine not working?
Anyhow, it’s developed an intermittent problem under acceleration. There’s a sudden drop in power accompanied by the glow-plug heater symbol flashing. It will continue running on low power and it is fine again for a while after switching off the ignition and restarting the engine.
Do you need to replace the EGR valve on a Jaguar XJ?

What causes a Mondeo diesel engine to jam?
It has a little valve inside it that can jam open. The erg can be removed & cleaned but a garage or dealer will probably just replace it. On a mondeo diesel with the same engine, flashing glow plug light = EGR valve problems. Injector failure would be indicative if a LOT of smoke on startup and a very very lumpy idle.
