The Auto Stop-Start can be disabled on your new 2020 Subaru Outback, Forester, Legacy, and Crosstrek. It’s different for each model, and the problem is, on some models like Forester, you cannot permanently disable it. The system will always default to an on position once you turn the car off.

Completely fine with that if that’s the norm ! In certain braking situations, you can not depress the brake firmly which will not activate the start/stop feature. I have a question…seriously.

There is a way. It’s called “engine start/stop” button. I had auto-stop turned off and was able to stomp the gas pedal and leap forward like a drag racer as soon as the light turned green, only to be t-boned by someone in cross traffic running a red light. From now on, I will leave auto-stop enabled.
