What is the point of artifact lands?
They basically tap for 2 mana for stuff with affinity, and also can be used for Modular, Disciple of the Vault triggers, powering up Cranial Plating, etc. Basically, the ability to put too many artifacts on the battlefield too quickly is the problem, not specifically that there are some lands with the artifact type.
Are artifact lands banned in EDH?
Yep, all five of the standard Mox artifacts are banned. Like basic lands, they’re free and tap for a colored mana. But since they aren’t actually lands, you can cast one the same turn you play a land, essentially giving an extra mana. That speed goes a long way, letting you set your field before opponents can counter.
Can you have more than 4 artifact lands?
I was wondering Artifact lands like Ancient Den, Seat of the Synod, Great Furnace, Vault of Whispers, Tree of Tales. Are you allowed more than 4 for just 4? You are only allowed four of any card unless that card is a basic land or has an ability which says you can have more than four. So you are only allowed four.
Can land be artifacts?
Most of the time it’s no problem for a card to be both a land and an artifact. However, lands get from your hand into play in a way very different from artifacts.

Do artifact lands trigger alela?
Does Artifact Land trigger Alela? It is usually not a problem that a map is both a country and an object. Artifacts also trigger effects that trigger when a spell is cast. The land, on the other hand, doesn’t use the deck and can’t be countered, doesn’t count as a spell, and can only be played once per turn.
Do artifact lands count as lands?

Why is artifact land banned?
History. The Mirrodin artifact lands heavily contributed to the dominance of the affinity-based deck archetypes, and thus, in March 2005, all six were banned from Standard (Darksteel Citadel, however, was later reprinted in Magic 2015, and the ban did not carry over with the reprint.)
