How do I get a Harvard MIT library card?
Register for Harvard Library Privileges
- Bring your MIT ID and government-issued ID.
- Log into Borrow Direct via Touchstone. DUO authentication is required; please have your mobile phone set up with DUO.
- Then you can go directly to the Harvard card office (Smith Center) to get your borrowing card.

Can a library card be used for interlibrary loan?
Borrowing Cards do not grant interlibrary loan privileges, including consortial agreements. Periodicals, theses, and some Rotch Library items may not be borrowed but are available for room use only. The Borrowing Card does not provide access to Course Reserves materials.
