Do Fido jars need to be burped?
This classic style of Mason jar is the most commonly found and is perfect for fermenting large vegetables and large batches. We don’t recommend fermenting in fido jars because they require daily burping and can explode if the fermentation gases aren’t released.
How do you use Pickl jars?
Fill water in the airlock and wrap Pickl-It with towel, blocking light, taking care not to cover the airlock. Check the jar in 24 hours to make sure the sauerkraut hasn’t expanded, reaching the airlock; if it has, remove some brine and kraut. Continue to ferment for 7-10 days at 68-72 degrees F.
Can you ferment in a clip top jar?

The second fermentation is when you’re creating carbonation, and without a tight lid, that carbonation will escape. Plastic and glass bottles alike are good for this. Plastic can be used during the second fermentation for two main reasons—duration of fermentation and acidity.

Can you ferment in a glass jar?

Can you ferment in plastic jar?
Although technically plastic can be used for fermentation, we do not recommend it for several reasons. First, plastic can be damaged, and scratches in the plastic can harbor foreign bacteria. Second, plastic (even food-grade plastic) often contains undesirable chemicals that can affect the vegetables.
