Why does my reversing camera show a blue screen?
It has started to show a blank blue screen when reverse is selected. Before I attack the silicon holding the camera cover to check the camera is ok I thought it prudent to check if this is a known problem or a one off. What does the blue screen on the rear view mirror mean?
The camera screen in the dash should display the same image orientation as the rear view mirror. If it is opposite to the mirror, you indeed have a dangerous situation. The blue screen indicates no signal from the back up camera.

Why does the camera not come up in reverse gear?
Camera does not come up during reverse gear, or no image shows on the screen. Reversing camera, including the ones offered by Reverse Safe automatically start as soon as the reverse gear has been engaged. If the image is not immediately shown after the reverse has been engaged, then there must be a problem with the system.

If you are getting no signal from the camera check it is getting power and check the AV cable through to the monitor. We have known mice eat through a cable on a motorhome! Also if your camera is wired in to the reversing light check your light is actually coming on.

Push down on the tab I circled and pull the two halves of the connector apart. You may have to push them together and then push the tab down. OK, I got it disconnected. . . . but the camera still shows blue with it disconnected. . . did I get the right one?

How to get the reversing camera to turn on?
Place a towel over the camera to simulate night time and then peep under the side of the towel to see if the night vision LEDs have turned on. Remember to have the ignition On and reverse gear selected. The power feed is unlikely to be taken directly from the reversing lights. It will, most likely, be fed from the monitor.
