What is Citramag used for?
This laxative medicine is used to cleanse the bowel prior to examination or surgical procedures that require the colon to be clean of stools, eg colonoscopy or barium enema. It is not used to treat constipation.
How long does Plenvu make you poop?
Bowel movements can take up to 5-6 hours after beginning the prep to start. Be patient, continue to drink liquids. If you have not had a bowel movement by midnight the night prior to your procedure, you will need to reach the on call physician for further instructions.
What is the prep medication for a colonoscopy?
At 6 p.m., take 3 tablets of Dulcolax® laxative pill with water by mouth. At 8 p.m. the evening before your colonoscopy start drinking the Gatorade®/MiraLAX® solution. Drink one 8-ounce glass every 10 minutes until completed. You can continue to drink clear liquids until midnight.
How fast does magnesium citrate work for colonoscopy prep?
Immediately after drinking Magnesium Citrate, drink at least 2 to 3 eight ounce glasses of clear liquids. Continue to drink clear liquids until bedtime. The laxative effect can begin within 1-4 hours. Be prepared to be near the bathroom during the preparation.
How fast does Citramag work?
It can take a varying amount of time for the Citramag to work, from about 30 minutes to several hours. Using a barrier cream on the bottom such as zinc and castor oil (available from pharmacies) will help to avoid soreness. You may have as much clear fluid as you like up to 4 hours before your examination.
How do you drink Citramag?
To prepare a sachet of Citramag, dissolve the contents in 200mls (8 fluid ounces) of hot water in a large measuring jug. Pour the water in slowly whilst mixing to avoid excessive fizzing which could cause the fluid to spill and be lost. Allow it to cool before drinking.
Does Plenvu taste bad?
